What Does Russell Brand, Tarot Card Reading, Ghosts and False Boobs Have in Common?

Last night (Wednesday 6th October 2010) we (Nina & Jerry) from  DivineLight.biz in Newcastle upon Tyne had the most Bizarre  and Surreal experiences of our lives.

We were sat at home working on the computer and the phone rang at 7.25 pm.

It was a call from one of Russell Brand’s PA’s/Show Organizers. He had been looking for a Psychic/Clairvoyant/Medium in Newcastle upon Tyne. He found our Divine Light’s – Akashic Tarot number and rang. He asked Nina, if we were prepared to appear live on stage and give Russell Brand a Tarot Card Reading.

Russell Brand was doing a one night Sell Out show at The Journal Tyne Theatre – Newcastle upon Tyne, with his show Booky Wook 2 (18+) Tour and the show was starting in 5 minutes time at 7.30pm

Micky said if we agreed, we would go on in the 2nd part of the show after the interval. So we had 1 hour to get ready and get to the Theatre 25 mins drive away. We agreed, got changed and set off for our unknown challenge.

We arrived at the Theatre during the interval. We met Micky in reception at 8.20pm. He took our photo so that Russell could recognize us and proceeded to give us 2 seat tickets, with no further briefing.

Like Daniel walking into the Lions Den. We then walked into the Theatre and found out that it was a Sell out 1200 ticket audience of young energetic and some alcohol induced people.

Unbelievably not phased by the size of the audience. We settled down into our pre arranged Isle seats. These were positioned so that we could quickly get on stage.

At 8.30pm Russell came back on stage for the 2nd part of his show.

After about 5 minutes of observing the level and Adult tone of the show, we quickly realized that our part in the show was NOT going to be a serious Tarot Card Reading. (Duh !!!)

A Review Today by Karen Wilson of the Newcastle Evening Chronicle: Russell Brand, The Journal Tyne Theatre Oct 7 2010. Said the stories he used on stage were plucked from the pages of the Newcastle Evening Chronicle. One story he picked up on as the show progressed, Russell read about the infamous ghost that is reported to haunt the Theatre. The ghost of an actor that was killed by a rolling cannon ball, the cannon ball was used to simulate thunder sounds for shows at the Theatre reportedly fell on the Actors head and killed him.

At around 9pm he announced that 2 “Ghost Busters” were going to help him “Raise The Dead” Then he called myself & Nina on stage. (What a set up !!! Lesson 1 Before agreeing to anything in the Media. Find out what the agenda of the producer is 🙂 )

We had to think on our feet, he started to use his “Brand” of comedy to poke fun at our profession. Nina being Nina with her No Nonsense tell it as it is, Geordie style, quickly took control of the microphone and started to give him a personal reading live on stage, whether he liked it or not. He very quickly gained respect for Nina and eased off with his personal attacks.

Our part went on for 5 mins. He said he would only allow Nina to work on him on stage IF I wore a pair of “False Boobs” that had been part of the previous first act. I laughingly agreed and put them on. He realized we were deadly serious and meant business. He then also realized the personal situation he had put himself in. He made a joke of it and changed the subject and very quickly moved on and jokingly dismissed us off stage.

Very relieved that our baptism by fire ordeal was over, went back to our seats in the 1200 strong audience, quite pleased that we had come out of the experience relatively unscathed. A lot wiser and glad that we had rose to the challenge that the Universe had set for us that night.

After the show finished at 9.30pm, we went back stage to the Green Room to meet Russell. He respectfully waited until he had dealt with the other people back stage, then he thanked us for responding to the short notice and for being such good sports.

We then had our photo taken with Russell. Nina did a quick 3 card reading on him and he signed two of the cards with his signature. We then left the Theatre by the “Back Stage” door to walk out to a crowd of about 30 people waiting for Russell. They all shouted in unison Hey there’s Nina. So obviously she left an impression on the audience. We then drove home in a dream like state.

When we arrived back home, we turned on the TV at 10.15pm to find Russell Brand on Channel 4’s 4Music with his Ponderland Show. This is where the Bizarre and Surreal feelings kicked it. We realized that just 3 hours before the phone call, we were preparing for a normal Wednesday night at home. But from that chance phone call, we had:

• Been to the Newcastle upon Tyne The Journal Tyne Theatre.
• Appeared Live on Stage with Russell Brand in front of a 1200 strong sellout audience.
• Had our picture taken back stage in the Green Room with his arms around us for the photo.
• Nina had given Russell Brand a Tarot Card Reading.
• And experienced a “Back Stage” Door, Fan reception.

Then just 3o minutes later, we are watching him at home on TV as though it had just been a dream.

The very first thing I thought and I said to Nina as we woke this morning was. Did we really go to meet Russell Brand last night???
