I was desperate to give up smoking as it had become an emotional crutch, and so rather reluctantly decided to give hypnotherapy a go. After my first session, I was amazed at how different I felt. I didn't feel the need for a cigarette when I got up in the morning, after meals or when I felt stressed or upset. More surprisingly, the sessions helped me feel a lot more positive about things that had previously been getting me down. I'd recommend hypnotherapy to everyone!

Hypnotherapy

HypnotherapyThe term Hypnosis comes from the Greek 'ypnos' which means sleep. However, Hypnosis is not sleep because the subject stays alert, can talk and move, and the brain waves differ.

Hypnosis has been described under various names, and has been used as a therapeutic tool throughout history. There are records of the use of hypnosis for healing and there is no mystery surrounding one of the greatest tools that man has used throughout the centuries.

The use of hypnosis for healing can be traced back to 3,000 BC, to Ancient Egypt, where the earliest known hypnotic sessions were recorded in stone. A founder of Hypnosis was a 19th Century Viennese physician called Franz Anton Mesmer. It is in fact this person that lent his name to mesmerised.

How does it work?

The human mind is extremely suggestible and is being constantly bombarded with suggestive stimuli from external sources, and suggestive thoughts and ideas from the inside. A good deal of suffering is the consequence of negative thoughts and impulses invading one's mind from subconscious recesses. Unfortunately, past experience, guilt feelings, and repudiated impulses and desires are constantly pushing themselves into awareness, directly or in disguised forms.

These thoughts become feelings which sabotage one's happiness, health, and efficiency. By the time one has reached adulthood, there has been a build up of "negative" modes of thinking, feeling and acting which persist as bad habits. Like any habit they are hard to break or change. However, using hypnotherapy, Nina will transform negative attitudes into more positive ones. If you believe change can happen quickly, then you increase the likelihood of the change. It may, however, take time to rid someone of their old behaviour patterns, the effect not immediate. However, even when no apparent changes are happening on the surface, much is happening on the inside.

Hypnotherapy is limited only by the one's limiting beliefs about oneself. One must keep repeating the suggestions before they are absorbed and begin to influence or destroy old destructive patterns.

The Process

You will be able to hear, remember, and experience everything that is going on around you. Hypnotherapy is a very pleasant feeling of complete physical and mental relaxation. It is similar to that moment between knowing you are awake and going into a sleep state. Often, when under hypnosis, you find your mind active, you hear every sound in the room, that you can resist the suggestions if you choose to, you realise that you are not asleep, and you are able to remember everything perfectly. People often believe that they were not hypnotised, when indeed they were.

Who can be Hypnotised?

Some people give up on hypnotherapy after a few sessions because they were disappointed in their reactions, believing they are not suitable subjects. Many people believe they will go through something different, new and spectacular in the hypnotic state. They equate hypnosis with being put to sleep or made unconscious. You will not go to sleep or lose touch with reality.

Is it safe?

You are always in full control of the session and of your thoughts, you will not be made to do anything against your will and you will remember everything that Nina says and does. You will find yourself drifting into a relaxed state and after the session you will feel more energised and refreshed. Hypnotherapy is a completely safe and relaxed state of mind and body.
